MARSHFIELD – The Spencer boys have stayed undefeated through their first five basketball games.

The Rockets used 25 points from Austin Bacon and a triple-double from Brett Kasch to blast past Gilman on Dec. 17, beating the Pirates 77-38. Known to his teammates as “Kasch Money,” the Spencer senior scored 14 points, and also grabbed 10 rebounds and 10 steals in the win. Kasch is now averaging 19 points per game.

Ty McDonald scored 10 points against Gilman, and helped the Rockets win their fourth consecutive Eastern Cloverbelt Conference matchup so far this season, along with wins over Granton, Marshfield Columbus, and Owen-Withee, as well.

Spencer was 5-0 overall heading into a Dec. 19 game at Greenwood. Once the new year rolls around, the Rockets will play at Pacelli in Stevens Point on Jan. 3, followed by a home game against Loyal Jan. 7. The following five contests will all be on the road, with games at Neillsville, Auburndale, Granton, Pittsville, and Marshfield Columbus Jan. 10, 21, 24, 28, and 30.
