MARSHFIELD – Three bulbs have gone red during Wood County’s “Keep the Wreath Green” campaign.

Marshfield Fire & Rescue Chief Scott Owen said that two structure fires occurred the weekend of Dec. 7-8 – one in the town of Saratoga and one in Sherry – representing the first red bulbs of the season.  A third structure fire on Dec. 13 in the town of Marshfield turned the third light red.

From Thanksgiving and Christmas, the symbolic wreath is filled with green bulbs. A red bulb takes its place each time a fire occurs in Wood County.

The campaign is designed to raise awareness on preventing fires during the holidays.
