MARSHFIELD – Marshfield said goodbye to its one and only female mayor. Memorial services were held on Dec. 7 for Marilyn Hardacre, who died Nov. 29, at the age of 84.

Current Mayor Bob McManus was among those to eulogize Hardacre, during services held at Zion United Methodist Church.

Marilyn’s daughter Beth Staskunas said she guided her and her three brothers by how she lived her life with a mission, passion and kindness to others.

After serving two terms on the Marshfield Common Council, Hardacre served four terms in the mayor’s office, before serving as the Marshfield Chamber Director for 11 years until her retirement in 1997.

She also served on many boards and foundations, led many philanthropic and fundraising efforts, and was a major transportation advocate, playing pivotal roles in the development of Marshfield’s boulevard project and the expansion of Highway 10 to a four-lane expressway to the city.
