Nekoosa and Port Edwards to compete for Cranberry Classic title; Columbus and Assumption vie for third

WISCONSIN RAPIDS – The start of the Cranberry Classic high school basketball tournament, held Nov. 29 at Assumption High School, saw a couple of close games.
Port Edwards snuck by Marshfield Columbus Catholic, 70-68.
Quinton Tranel scored 34 points for Port Edwards. Tom Nystrom had 23 points for Columbus, while Wyatt Draxler added 18.
That game was followed by a Nekoosa win over Assumption, 56-55, in overtime.
Columbus will face Assumption for third place on Nov. 30 at 6:15 p.m., followed by Nekoosa and Port Edwards in the championship game.
