Kilty and USA team take silver at World Cup

MARSHFIELD – In their first podium appearance since 2011, the U.S. women’s freestyle wrestling team lost to Japan in the 2019 Women’s World Cup championships, held in Narita, Japan, on Nov. 17.
With a 7-3 loss the USA team secured a silver medal.
Jacarra Winchester (55 kg), Tamyra Mensah-Stock (68 kg), and Adeline Gray (76 kg), defeated their opponents in the dual match.
Stratford’s Macey Kilty (62 kg) fell to Japan’s Yukako Kawai, 7-0, in the championships.
A win over Mongolia on Nov. 16 helped the USA team finish with a 2-0 record in Group B and secure a podium finish.
At 62 kg, Kilty, 18, secured a 4-2 win over Mongolia’s Gantuya Enkhbat to help the team reach the championships.
