Why did you choose UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?
My decision for choosing UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield campus was mainly financial. Tuition is reasonable, plus attending college in my hometown gave me the added benefit of living at home and also working while attending school.
What surprised you the most about the university when you arrived on campus?
I was surprised how much the professors want you to succeed. They only want the best for you and to see you go far in your education and career.
How or when did you discover your purpose? How did UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield faculty/staff help?
I can’t say I have discovered my purpose yet, but the faculty and staff at UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield definitely are playing a big role in helping me discover who or what I want to be. They are paving the paths that I can take. I just need to start walking them.
Why did you choose your program/major?
My dream job would be a research chemist. I like discovering stuff and figuring out how things work. I’ve always been fascinated by chemical elements. In seventh- and eighth-grade science, I memorized 95% of the periodic table.
Who has been your favorite professor or staff member?
Dr. (Sandra) Neumann (psychology-education) is an amazing professor. She really knows how to connect intellectually and personally with her students.
In addition to being a college student, what takes up your free time?
I currently work two jobs, at Dairy Queen and at H & S, a farming implement manufacturer.
What do you plan to do after attending UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield?
After completing my associate degree, I plan on transferring to UW-Stout to earn my bachelor’s degree.
To make the most of their college experience, what advice do you have for incoming students?
Be smart with your time, be smart with your classes and, most of all, have fun. Your time here goes by fast, and you will miss it once it’s gone.
