MARSHFIELD – Marshfield’s Wenzel Family Plaza received an American Planning Association (APA) Wisconsin Chapter “Great Places” award, during the organization’s Eau Claire fall conference held in October.

APA’s Great Places award is an opportunity to highlight and celebrate examples of public spaces in communities around the state. The award celebrates “the hard work and tough choices of elected officials, staff, and community members from years and sometimes decades ago, demonstrating through this award the successful outcomes of those choices to establish and protect these truly special places in our cities.”

The plaza also earned the Wisconsin Main Street “Best Public Improvement Project” earlier this year.

The city began construction on the plaza in September 2017 on the former Marshfield News Herald property. The plaza opened to the public in July 2018.
