UWSP at Marshfield to present WWII Christmas radio show
For Hub City Times
MARSHFIELD – The UW-Stevens Point at Marshfield will present “A WWII Radio Christmas” Nov. 8, at 7:30 p.m., and Nov. 9, at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
This moving show recreates the experience of attending a recording of a 1940s radio show broadcast on Christmas Eve, during World War II. Using period songs and stories inspired by actual veterans, “A World War II Radio Christmas” transports the audience to another time. An inspiring look at strength in the face of hardship, this play is a reminder of the importance of coming together for the holidays.
The audience will enjoy seeing the actors perform various scenes and commercials from an era gone by. See the cast create the live sound effects of gunfire, distant bombs, sirens, crickets, and lapping water.
The cast includes: John Armbruster, Brian Clark, Joelle Clark, Pat Ellis, Lisa Frey, Kris Hughes, Dean Markwardt, and Brian Schwieso, under the direction of Donna Thompson.
Performances take place in the Black Box Theatre at UWSP at Marshfield. Tickets may be purchased online at tickets.uwsp.edu, an hour before at the box office, or by calling 715-389-6534.
