Fellowship of Christian Athletes to bring Milwaukee Brewer players to Marshfield

MARSHFIELD – The Fellowship of Christian Athletes of North Central WI will bring two Milwaukee Brewers to Marshfield as part of an event to raise funds for local school programs.
“The goal of this event is to raise funds for Fellowship of Christian Athletes which is a nonprofit organization that helps facilitate student-led discussions at local middle schools and high schools about faith, God and the Bible,” said organizer, Brent Aschenbrenner.
Aschenbrenner said the program will bring Brewer pitcher, Chase Anderson, and bullpen catcher, Marcus Hanel, to Marshfield on Nov. 14, something he has worked toward over the past several years.
“I have been in contact with Marcus for over two years trying to bring a current Brewers athlete to Marshfield,” Aschenbrenner explained. “I see athletes making speaking engagements in other cities but we don’t get an opportunity to interact with current players like this in Marshfield very often.
“They have both been part of baseball for a long time and I love when athletes give you some behind the scenes information or stories about their experiences. We have an idea of what it would be like to play major league baseball but many times the stories highlight other moments of life that we have never thought of. They both are strong men of faith so they will bring stories that point the attention to God.”
Aschenbrenner said that the program is something the organization does yearly, and in addition to raising funds, he hopes it provides some inspiration.
“I hope people become inspired to go and live likewise,” he said. “Both these men do such a good job explaining what they believe that I hope people grasp how faith is an everyday pursuit not just a special time on Sunday or Saturday.”
The event will take place Nov. 14, with doors opening at 5:30 p.m., a meal at 6 p.m., and the athletes speaking at 7 p.m., at the Holiday Inn & Conference Center in Marshfield.
