MARSHFIELD – The Columbus Catholic volleyball team lost their bid for a sectional title on Oct. 31, as the team fell to Wausau’s Newman Catholic in WIAA Division 4 sectional semifinals in Marshfield.
The Dons lost in 2-3, with scores of 25-23, 17-25, 20-25, 25-15, and 6-15.
Emmalee Jicinsky had 11 kills and 18 digs; Dorci Walker had 10 kills and 13 digs; Jessica Jakopin had nine blocks; Maria Taylor had seven blocks; Meghan Kibbel had 23 assists and 12 digs; and Sydney Litwaitis had 13 digs.
“I’m proud with how my girls played tonight,” said Coach Kat Egle. “Dorci Walker played on a sprained ankle and the other players stepped it up. We played through some tough calls during the match and stayed strong as a team. We are going to miss the seniors and it was a blessing to have coach them. This was a special team.”
