MARSHFIELD – The Spencer/Columbus football team will advance to Level 2 competition after a WIAA Division 5 Level 1 win Oct. 25 at Bloomer High School.

Eden Jacobson ran in for a touchdown in the first quarter, but Bloomer was able to match that, times two, putting S/C behind 12-6 at halftime.

However, a Gage Stratman to Brett Kasch touchdown pass tied it up in the third quarter, and a two-point conversion from Stratman to Austin Bacon pushed S/C into the lead 14-12.

That lead was secured by a Stratman to Bacon touchdown pass in the final minutes, ending the game with S/C on top 20-12.

Bacon led S/C in rushing, with 85 yards. Kasch led in receiving with 20 yards.

“I am really proud of our guys. They had a gutty performance,” said Head Coach Jason Gorst. “We focused on penalties, turnovers and time of possession and won all three.”

They will travel to Stratford for Level 2 competition on Nov. 1.
