WOOD COUNTY – A second driver involved in a collision in Wood County on Oct. 24 has died.

The crash occurred at 3 p.m. at Highways A and EE in the town of Richfield just south of Marshfield.

According to Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker, 26-year-old Zachary Phillips of Marshfield was operating a Fed Ex delivery van eastbound on Highway EE, when he failed to stop for a stop sign and collided with a southbound pickup truck pulling a trailer on Highway A driven by 65-year-old George Benish of Wisconsin Dells.

Sheriff Becker has confirmed that Benish has now died from his injuries at the Marshfield Medical Center. Phillips was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Wood County Coroner’s Office, Wood County Dispatch, the Marshfield Police and Fire & Rescue Departments, the Richfield Fire Department and the Wood County Highway Department.
