Marshfield Clinic to purchase Weston, Park Falls hospitals
By Hub City Times staff
MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Clinic Health System will do in Weston what it did in Marshfield. On Oct. 15, the clinic announced an agreement with Ascension Wisconsin to buy St. Clare’s Hospital, in a transaction scheduled for completion next spring.
The approach is the same one the clinic took in Marshfield, when it scrapped plans to build a new hospital, and instead purchased its longtime next-door neighbor, St. Joseph’s Hospital from Ministry Health Care in 2017.
The deal also includes the clinic’s acquisition of Ascension’s interests in the Diagnostic and Treatment Center in Weston, which the two organizations co-own.
The clinic is also acquiring Flambeau Hospital in Park Falls, which was operated by the clinic and Ministry Health Care under a joint sponsorship agreement signed in 1994. That agreement stayed in place when Ministry later joined Ascension.
Neither healthcare organization is releasing additional details about the acquisitions at this time.
