Dorothy C. Smith

Dorothy C. Smith, 89, Marshfield, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2019 at House of the Dove, Marshfield.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at St. John’s Catholic Church, Marshfield, where the visitation will be from 9:30 am until service time. Rev. __will officiate and music will be provided by a great niece, Amy Gachnang. St. John’s Parish Council of Catholic Women will recite the rosary at 9:30 am. Burial will be in Mound Cemetery, Pittsville. Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, is assisting the family.

Dorothy was born on September 18, 1930 in the Town of Cary, Wood County, to William and Elizabeth (Resler) Hutter and was a graduate of Pittsville High School. She was united in marriage to Robert E. Smith on November 23, 1953 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Bakerville. He died on June 5, 2003.

Dorothy had been employed at the Marshfield Clinic and then at Ladish Company in Milwaukee. After their retirement the Smith’s returned to Marshfield, where she resided until the present time. She enjoyed arts and crafts and crossword puzzles. Dorothy had a deep Faith and prayed for everyone.

She is survived by a brother, John Hutter of Spencer, a brother-in-law, Floyd Kumm of Pittsville, a sister-in-law, Shirley Hutter of Marshfield, a stepsister, Evelyn Wojcik of Arpin and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters, Gladys Wolf, Beatrice Sojka, and Dolores Kumm, 2 brothers, Wayne and Harold Hutter, 2 brothers-in-law, Frank Sojka and George Wolf, a sister-in-law, RosaleneHutter and a stepsister, Dorothy Halbrader.

The family wishes to thank the staff at House of the Dove for their compassion and care and to Marge Hansen for her friendship.
