Stratford slams door on Marathon, continues run

STRATFORD – The Stratford football continues its run, with seven games in a row in which their opponent has been unable to score, including the Marathon’s Raider team.
During the Oct. 4 Stratford Homecoming game in Stratford, the Tigers scored three touchdowns in the first quarter off a Max Schwabe run, a Chase Flink punt return, and a Devin Denee run.
Stratford added two more in the second quarter, with Teddy Redman and Matt Handrick touchdown runs, giving the Tigers a 33-0 halftime lead.
The third quarter brought two more touchdown runs by Redman and Flick, and Redman added a 30-yard punt return in the fourth to end the game 53-0.
Flink led Stratford in rushing, with 106, while Vaughn Breit led in receiving with 10.
Stratford will next face Edgar, who is also 7-0, on Oct. 11. The game, which is scheduled in Edgar, will determine the Marawood Conference championship.
