Rainy weather hampering street repair projects

MARSHFIELD – Street repair projects around central Wisconsin are being hampered by the almost continuous rainy weather; and in Marshfield, street superintendent Dean Schiller says some projects are even being postponed until next spring.
“As you can see with the weather the way it’s been, it’s hard to get a lot of things done right now,” Schiller explained. “And regarding some of the streets that we’re going to be postponing until next year, just the way everything’s been going, we don’t want to get caught with snow and all of a sudden we’ve got things open.”
Schiller says it’s even been hard putting finishing touches on some big projects that have already been mostly completed, like the Central Avenue reconstruction project. “We are painting parking stalls out there on North Central Avenue, and we will be getting to that as soon as we get a day or two of dry weather.”
Homeowners are currently being informed by letter if their streets are on the list of projects being postponed until next year.
