MARSHFIELD – Marshfield football defeated Wisconsin Rapids Lincoln in their Homecoming game held Sept. 27 at the new Heiting Stadium in Marshfield.

After a non-starting first quarter, Marshfield receiver Wyatt LeMoine secured a touchdown pass from quarterback Joey Goettl. Kyle Tremelling backed that up with an extra point, putting the score at 7-0.

Goettl then ran in another touchdown around the seven-minute mark and an extra point by Tremelling left the score at 14-0 Tigers.

The Red Raiders came alive with under a minute to go, when Lincoln’s Austin Pelot teamed up with Dylan Lisitza on a 20-yard pass. A Mac Lucas extra point gave Rapids seven.

Marshfield was quick to come back with seven of their own on a Sam Hinson run and Tremelling extra point to end the first half 21-7.

The second half saw more scoring by Marshfield, with a Goettl touchdown run in the third, a Tremelling 21-yard field goal in the fourth quarter, and a Ryan Dolezal touchdown run, followed by a Tremelling extra point, ending the game 37-7.

Vercion Gammel led Rapids in rushing with 70, while Goettl led Marshfield with 129.

LeMoine led Marshfield in receiving with 52 and Dylan Lisitza topped Rapids with 72.

Marshfield now stands at 3-3 in the VFA-West, while the Red Raiders are 2-4.
