NEILLSVILLE – Officials are saying that parts of Clark County were struck by a tornado on Sept. 24; that’s according to the preliminary assessment done by the National Weather Service.
Clark County Emergency Management Director John Ross said that National Weather Service staff was in the area on Sept. 25 to assess the damage to determine if the damage was caused by straight-line winds or possibly a tornado. According to Ross, preliminary indications are that there was a tornado.
Exact strength and path are still being evaluated. Preliminary estimates indicate an EF-0 or EF-1 struck just to the south and southwest of Greenwood. Trees and power lines were damaged or knocked over, along with several barns and farm buildings that were severely damaged or destroyed. No damage estimates are available at this time. Clean up work is ongoing.
