SPENCER – After a 0-2 start, the Spencer/Columbus football team has now won three consecutive games. The Rockets built an early 14-0 first-quarter lead en route to a 29-0 shutout win over Neillsville/Granton in Spencer on Sept. 20.

Eden Jacobson had a big night for the Rockets. He carried the ball 14 times for 135 yards, and scored those first-quarter touchdowns, with runs of four and 46 yards. Quarterback Gage Stratman added nine runs for 36 yards, including two second-half touchdowns. Stratman scored on a four-yard carry near the end of the third quarter, and found the end zone again late in the fourth quarter on a 13-yard gain.

Austin Bacon had 12 carries for 32 yards, while Hayden Bauman rushed for 31 yards on five attempts.

Stratman was 5-for-9 for 97 yards in the passing game. He connected with Brett Kasch two times for 60 yards. Bacon had two grabs for 35 yards. Jacobson caught one pass for two yards.

The S/C defense had another solid outing as well, limiting the opposition to just 103 yards of total offense, despite possessing the ball seven minutes longer than the Rockets. S/C got to the quarterback for three sacks. Andres Rodriguez had 5.5 tackles, including four solo takedowns and one sack. David Ellefson had 4.5 solo tackles and Jacobson had four, while Bacon and Carter Casperson each had 3.5.

The Rockets will host Colby on Sept. 27 in Spencer, followed by road games at Cadott on Oct. 4 and Eau Claire Regis on Oct. 10. The Rockets wrap up the regular season at home against Altoona on Oct. 18.
