STEVENS POINT – Early scoring for the Marshfield football team set the Tigers on a course for a Sept. 20 win against Stevens Point at Goerke Field.
A 13-yard pass from Joey Goettl to Simon Slade in the first quarter was reinforced by a Kyle Tremelling extra point, before Point got on the scoreboard with a 30-yard field goal kick by Noah Steveler.
Marshfield matched that with a Tyler Wein 32-yard interception return and a Tremelling extra point, ending the first half 14-3.
The third quarter saw two more touchdowns passes from the Tigers, both from Goettl to Wyatt LeMoine – one a 13-yarder and the other 16. Tremelling secured both touchdowns with the extra point kick.
LeMoine led in receiving with 97 yards. Sam Hinson led in rushing with 39.
Marshfield is home on Sept. 27, in a homecoming game against Wisconsin Rapids.
