MARSHFIELD – Marshfield Aldermen are banning themselves and others from having cell phones while conducting city business.
With Rebecca Spiros absent, the Marshfield Common Council voted 8-to-1 on Sept. 10 in favor of a new policy that puts restrictions on the use of cell phones and other electronic devices during city meetings.
City Administrator Steve Barg looked at policies already in place in other municipalities. He said:
Among other things, the new policy states that all cell phones and other electronic devices must be turned off prior to city meetings.
The new policy applies to the common council, and all city committees, boards and commissions, as well as any other city staff or officials that are anticipated to participate in the meeting.
Alderman Jason Zaleski voted against the cell phone ban.
