MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield man who made national headlines as part of the infamous “Dumpster Puppies” case has reached a plea deal with prosecutors.
On Sept. 6, Robert Wild was found guilty of intentionally abandoning animals after nine puppies were found inside a trash can outside his Marshfield home. As part of the plea deal, prosecutors dropped a charge of intentionally mistreating animals.
Wild is accused of leaving a litter of newborn puppies in a garbage can. Door-to-door salesman Mark Theobald found the puppies on East Fourth Street on Feb. 28.
The Marshfield Area Pet Shelter cared for the puppies until all nine were adopted this spring.
Wild first pleaded innocent back in April. A sentencing date has not been set.
