MARSHFIELD – The trial for a Marshfield woman accused of supplying heroin to a Spencer man who later died is underway in Marathon County Circuit Court.
Cassandra Staab, 29, is facing charges of first-degree reckless homicide by delivery of drugs. She’s accused of supplying fentanyl-laced heroin to 22-year-old Thomas Bychinski, who died after taking the drug.
Police found Bychinski’s body in a Spencer home in January of 2017.
Staab is also facing a count of recklessly endangering safety and bail jumping. She faces up to 40 years in prison on the homicide charge alone. The trial began Sept. 3, with jury selection, and is scheduled to wrap on Sept. 6.
Staab is already in prison for unrelated drug charges in Milwaukee and Wood Counties.
