Attempted theft
On August 28 at 7:16 p.m. it was reported by an employee of a Marshfield home improvement store that a 29-year-old Marshfield male had attempted to steal various items with the help of a garbage bin. The complainant stated that the male had concealed various items in a garbage bin, placed the bin in the back of his pickup, and attempted to leave without paying for the items. The man was taken into custody and transported to the Marathon County Jail.

Card thief
On August 29 at 11:56 p.m. it was reported by an employee of a Marshfield supermarket that a male individual had stolen packs of various sports, magic, and other novelty cards from the store that came to a total of over $400. Camera footage showed the man entering the store, putting the cards into his sweatshirt pocket, and leaving without paying. The male was unable to be identified.
Substantial Battery
On August 29 at 8:30 p.m. it was reported that a 38-year-old Marshfield male had struck another 34-year-old male in the head with a beer mug. As a result, the victim required staples in his head to heal the wound, as well as stitches in his arm for injuries he received during the altercation. The 38-year-old male was also treated for his injuries before being taken to the Wood County Jail on charges of substantial battery.

Gas thief
On September 1 at 2 p.m. a female Marshfield resident reported that someone had been stealing gas from her vehicles. The complainant stated that after first noticing gas missing from one of her vehicles, she bought and installed a locking gas cap. Later, she noticed gas that had gone missing from her other vehicle, prompting her to buy another gas cap for the second vehicle. She was unable to name any suspects.
