Central Wisconsin State Fair attendance up

MARSHFIELD – Attendance was up at this year’s Central Wisconsin State Fair. That’s what Executive Director Dale Christiansen told the Marshfield Common Council on Aug. 27.
Christiansen also said the two monster truck shows on Saturday of the fair “were pretty much sellouts”. There were also large crowds for Smash Mouth on Friday night.
Police Chief Rick Gramza told the council that the new open-carry policy for alcohol was very well received, and there were no problems during the six-day event.
Those attending the fair were allowed to carry alcoholic beverages outside the areas where they were sold. Wristbands were used by bartenders to identify those eligible to carry open containers.
The fair was held Aug. 20-25.
