MARSHFIELD – World Suicide Prevention Day is Sept. 10, and throughout September Marshfield Clinic Health System will host events to help educate and provide resources for people in need.

On Sept. 10, Marshfield Area Coalition for Youth (MACY) and Marshfield Clinic Health System will feature Kids in Crisis: You’re Not Alone documentary and panel discussion. MACY’s Mental Health Workgroup and the Health System’s Center for Community Health Advancement will host the nationally recognized 27-minute documentary as part of our Mental Health Matters campaign. Doors will open at 5:45 p.m. at Froehlke Auditorium, Laird Center for Medical Research on the Marshfield Medical Center-Marshfield campus.

The event, scheduled from 6-7:15 p.m., begins with an inspiring film which follows four young people from Wisconsin as they navigate mental health challenges. The documentary, which is appropriate for teens and adults, is a story of struggle, support, and ultimate resilience. Following the showing, a panel of local mental health experts will discuss topics raised in the film, answer questions from the audience, and share expanded mental health resources in our community.

Registration is required as there are limited seats available. Register at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WZXTNXK.

Throughout Marshfield in September you will see green ribbons on trees lining Veterans Parkway and Central Avenue. Mental Health Matters posters with green ribbons will be placed at schools, businesses, and agencies reminding people that no one should suffer in silence and that the community cares about mental health.

The health system will continue to offer Question, Persuade & Refer (QPR) suicide “gatekeeper” trainings at Marshfield Everett Roehl Public Library. The next session is on Sept. 16, 6-7 p.m. Register for the QPR trainings and see future dates at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/TNVYWFQ.
