Wood County Sheriff seeks information in School Forest incident

MARSHFIELD – The Wood County Sheriff’s Department is seeking information on some criminal damage that occurred at the Marshfield School Forest, located in the town of Rock.

Damage occurred to a wood burning fire place and chimney, when an item was dropped down the chimney from the roof of a building on the property, which exploded and caused significant damage. The fireplace was installed in the building five years ago at a cost of $6,000.

The incident is believed to have occurred sometime between noon on Aug. 21 and the late morning hours of Aug. 22.

Anyone with information about this incident should contact the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. You can also contact Wood County Crime Stoppers, remain anonymous, and may be eligible for a cash award.
