MARSHFIELD – Parents will now be charged a flat-rate fee when making online payments through the Marshfield School District.
On Aug. 14, the board of education signed off on a $1 flat-rate fee, replacing a 3.62 percentage, for all online payments.
Board member Dale Yakaites said parents would still save time and money in the long run.
Dorothy Chaney was a “yes” vote. She told fellow board member Sam Steiner the $1 fee is charged one time per transaction, so the more payments parents can make in one online visit, the more money they can save.
The fee was approved on a unanimous 6-0 vote, with board member Mark Konrardy absent.

New 4K Program at Lincoln
In other action, the board approved a new four-year-old kindergarten unit at Lincoln Elementary; that will be a morning-only session.
The board voted back in April to add two 4K sections at Madison Elementary this fall. Superintendent Dr. Ryan Christianson said at that time enrollment figures for this fall were running at a more than two-to-one margin in favor of morning sessions versus the afternoon.
Another session was needed after two community 4K providers dropped two of the four sections previously provided – one at Child Care Centers of Marshfield (CCCM) and the other at Tiny Tigers – leaving one morning section at CCCM and one afternoon section at Tiny Tigers.
The Lincoln Elementary section was added to address additional placement.
