Rafters sweep Booyah to close season series

GREEN BAY – The first-place Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (17-9) trailed early against the Green Bay Booyah (13-13), but came back to win 6-1 and sweep the two-game series on July 31.
The Booyah struck first in the top of the fourth inning to take a 1-0 lead on a solo home run. Wisconsin Rapids evened the score in the sixth when Richie Schiekofer scored on an error. Later in the inning, Frankie Garriola hit a sacrifice fly to put Rapids on top 2-1.
The Rafters put together a big eighth inning that started with an RBI triple by Garriola. Jake Dunham and Anthony Galason both had RBI doubles as the Rafters extended their lead to 6-1. Zack Hunsicker pitched the final two innings to seal the Rafters win.
Gareth Stroh pitched seven innings as the starter, giving up just three hits and striking out three batters. Green Bay starter Dalton Wiggins is credited with the loss in 5.1 innings of work.
The Rafters finish the season series against Green Bay with a 10-2 record. Wisconsin Rapids now sits three games ahead of the Lakeshore Chinooks in first place in the division with 10 games remaining.
