Blue Demons end successful season

MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield American Junior Legion Blue Demons have completed one of their most successful seasons ever, winning three tournaments—the Badger State Games, Antigo, and Marshfield tourney – finishing third at the state tourney this week at Hackman Field.
The Blue Demons finished with a 23-9 record, losing their state semifinal contest with Bay Port on July 22, 14-4, in a five-inning game. Bay Port outhit Marshfield 16-6.
Marshfield earned a berth in the state semifinal round with a 12-7 win over Fond du Lac.
Fond du Lac jumped out to a 4-0 lead, but Post 54 scored two runs in their half of the third inning to close the gap to two. Fondy added to its lead with a three-run fourth inning. The Blue Demons answered with four runs in the bottom of the fourth inning, five in the fifth and one in the sixth. Riley Bauman led Marshfield with six RBIs. Trey Montalvo added three hits.
Chippewa Falls got wins over Manitowoc and Racine. Bay Port beat Racine and Marshfield.
