Jane P. Wangen, age 99, of Loyal, WI, passed away on Friday, July 12, 2019 at Marshfield Medical Center, in Marshfield, WI.  Funeral services will be held at 10:30am on Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal, with Rev. Daniel Zimmerman officiating.  Burial will follow in North Coon Prairie Lutheran Cemetery in Newry, WI.  Pallbearers will be:  Bob Fellenz, Vaughn Loos, Arnold Becker, George Stumpner, Cliff Thorson and Gordon Haselow.  Visitation will be held at the church, on Thursday, from 9:30am until time of service.
Jane Petrina Mitby was born on June 9, 1920 in Cashton, WI, to Chester and Margaret (Murray) Mitby.  She was raised in Cashton, baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, and graduated from Cashton High School in 1938.  After completing high school, Jane continued on to business school at La Crosse Technical College.  She was united in marriage to James Kermit Wangen on July 1, 1945 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cashton.  They moved to Loyal to a farm they purchased, and farmed for the rest of their lives.  Jim and Jane were a great team with many friends so dear to them.  She was always interested in others’ lives more than her own.  Horses were her passion, as well as bowling, golfing, bridge, snowmobiling, square dancing, and following all sporting events.  Jane lived her life in a “hurry up” fashion with an incredible work ethic.  Her quick wit, infectious smile, and kind heart were there for everyone she met.  Jane’s faith and church guided her actions.
She is survived by three nephews: John (Julie) Mitby of Madison, David (Deb) Mills and John Mills, both of La Crosse; and two nieces: Peggy Mitby Huskey of Minneapolis and Margaret Mills (Rick Onsrud) of La Crosse.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim, on April 3, 2012; one brother: Norman Mitby; one sister: Joan (Mitby) Mills; and nephew: Roger Erickson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, Loyal, WI.
