A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 pm on Saturday, July 20, 2019 at Rembs Funeral Home, Marshfield, where the family will receive relatives and friends from 1:30 pm until service time. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post 54 of Marshfield.

Carl was born on July 7, 1927 in Marshfield, to Carl and Alvina (Petrie) Schmitt. He attended St. John’s Parochial School and Marshfield Senior High School. As a young man Carl served his country. He married Marie H. Hake May 15, 1954. She died on August 15, 1911.

Carl worked as a truck driver, first for Swift and Company and then for CW Transport until the time of his retirement. Upon retirement he worked for Burnett Transit and Progressive Travel. He was also skilled at leather-work and had a small harness shop where he repaired saddles and tack and created the perfect round-braided rein. He had been a member of local government serving as an elected member of the Board for the Town of Lincoln. Until recently he was an active member of the Marshfield Hoedowners square dance club.

He is survived by his children, Christine Cook of Sandusky, Ohio, Catherine “Katy” Schmitt of Menasha, Corrine “Cubby” (Lonnie) Rice of Hilliard, OH and Wayne (Vera) Neumann of West Minster, Cokorado, and a grandson, Carl Harmon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sisters, Gloria Gruenwald and Faustine Binder and his horse, Saudi.
