WISCONSIN RAPIDS – For the first time in 12 home games, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (5-3) lost at Historic Witter Field, dropping an 18-4 decision to the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders (5-3) on July 10.

Fond du Lac opened the scoring with a big seven-run frame in the second inning that included a grand slam by Tim Elko. Zeb Adreon added three more runs an inning later on another Dock Spiders’ home run.

In the fifth and seventh innings, Fond du Lac built a 15-0 advantage. The Rafters got on the board in the bottom of the eighth on a two-RBI single by Anthony Galason. Despite the Dock Spiders adding three runs in the top of the ninth, Davion Downey drove in two more runs for the Rafters on a double to make it 18-4.

Wisconsin Rapids moves into a tie with the Dock Spiders and Green Bay Booyah for first place in the Great Lakes West Division. The Rafters are now 7-3 against the Dock Spiders this season.

Rafters starter Nate Barnes gets the loss in 1.2 innings of work. Winston Allen, Cody Turner, Dylan Mulvihill and Brady Stover all pitched out of the bullpen for Wisconsin Rapids. Fond du Lac’s Jon Young is credited with the win.
