NEILLSVILLE – On June 29, The Highground will host a Freedom Celebration Day. The event includes a World War II Living History display, a raffle event, Homeless Veteran Collection Drive, food, music, and fireworks.

The WWII Living History, coordinated for the Highground by Troy Buddenhagen of La Crosse, will focus on D-Day.  There will be displays of the type of military items that would have been present on that day 75 years ago and uniformed presenters speaking to visitors on the experiences of the Fourth Infantry Division at Utah Beach and the First Infantry Division at Omaha Beach.  The Living History “camp” and presenters will be available 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Red Higgins & Freedom Train will perform 5-6:30 p.m.  Boogie & the Yo-Yo’z will be performing from 7-9 p.m.

The annual Highground’s Fireworks display will begin at dusk.
