MARSHFIELD – In American Legion Baseball competition on June 13, it was tough going for the Marshfield Legion Post 54 Blue Devils as they took a hard loss to Waupaca, 13-2, in just five innings.
Waupaca started their momentum in the second inning as they scored four runs, including a stolen home base, after a wild pitch by Logan Schreiner got by catcher, Ben Gust.
Marshfield would look to make a mark of their own in the bottom of the second. Riley Boushack hit a double, scoring one of his teammates bringing the deficit to four, as Waupaca led 5-1.
Marshfield starting pitcher, Logan Schreiner allowed five consecutive hits and three runs in the fourth inning, before being relieved by Jaeger Johnson. Schreiner allowed 11 hits in three innings of pitching. Jaeger Johnson allowed three hits and three runs in the top of the fourth inning, but the damage was already done as Waupaca racked up seven runs in the fourth inning.
Marshfield falls to 0-4 on the season.
