MARSHFIELD – The Marshfield Tigers’ baseball team scored one of their biggest victories in recent memory, by coming from behind to defeat Holmen 4-2 in a Division 1 Regional Championship in Holmen May 30.

Trailing 1-0 after five innings, the Tigers scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to grab the lead. Holmen got a run back in the bottom of the sixth, but came up two runs short in the end.

Marshfield starting pitcher Preston Wagner gave up both Holmen runs (one earned) on four hits while walking four and striking out three in six-and-a-third. Ryan Krueger got the final two outs in the seventh inning to record the save, and send the Tigers to the sectional round of competition June 4 in Eau Claire.

Ben Gust had an RBI double, Isaiah Baierl smacked a two-run base hit, and Mason Coffren singled and knocked in a run for the Tigers, who improved their overall record to 16-12 with the regional championship win.
