Cindy Kay Schwanz, 61, of Neillsville, died believing in Jesus, the world’s Savior, and was called to her home in heaven during the morning hours of Saturday, May 18, 2019.

Cindy was born in Milwaukee, on October 14, 1957, daughter of Clarence and Gloria (Guetzke) Stier, was born again in the waters of Holy Baptism on November 3, 1957, and confirmed in the Lutheran faith on June 4, 1972.

She met her husband, Jerold “Jerry” Schwanz, at their fathers’ company picnic. The two were married on May 8, 1976, at Trinity Lutheran of West Mequon, and were blessed with three children and 43 years of marriage.

After the children entered school, Cindy went on to receive an Associate’s Degree in Accounting. She worked at MATC’s North Campus, Mequon, in the Business Division and also at MATC’s Workforce Development Center, Grafton. When Jerry took a job transfer to Neillsville, Cindy found work at the Wisconsin Rapids Workforce Development Center and the Clark County Economic Development Corporation. She then went on to be the Executive Director of the Neillsville Chamber of Commerce until she had to step down due to her failing health.

Cindy and Jerry were one of the core families that started a mission congregation in Cedar Grove. She enjoyed sharing her faith with her family, friends and anyone she came into contact with including her doctors and nurses. Cindy was also an active member of Immanuel Lutheran, Waupaca.

Among those who survive her are her mother, Gloria; her husband, Jerry; her two sons and daughter: Brian of Trevor; Craig (Valerie) of Kiel; and Julie (Henry) Berry of Neillsville; four grandchildren, Malachi, Isaiah, Owen and Nora; her six brothers and sisters and many other relatives friends, and loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her father.

A service of Christian funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at 11 am at Immanuel Lutheran, Waupaca, with the Rev. Ron Siemers officiating.

Relatives and friends may call to pay their respects at from 6-8 pm on May 20 at St. John’s, Neillsville, or at Immanuel, Waupaca, from 9:30 am until the time of the service on Wednesday. There will be a private interment in the Trinity West-Mequon Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to Immanuel Lutheran, Waupaca; St. John’s Lutheran, Neillsville; or the ALS Association-Wisconsin Chapter.

“Jesus said, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.’” (John 11:25, NIV).
