MARSHFIELD – The Wenzel Family Plaza Programming Committee has named Nicki Ryner the new plaza coordinator.

Ryner is a Pittsville native. She received her Bachelor’s of Liberal Arts degree in communication studies from the University of Minnesota.

“My professional experience has been in Administration, Logistics and Sales but my experience really stems from my volunteer work with various organizations,” Ryner said. “I am the Director of Operations with Wisconsin Science Olympiad and this role has shown me the importance of community and coming together for a greater cause.

“I was a committee member for the Cranberry Exhibit at Farm Technology Days where I witnessed firsthand the power of bringing folks together and how it affected everyone in a positive way. Keeping a community connected is a passion of mine and the Wenzel Family Plaza is a great opportunity to do just that.

“I believe providing activities for residents, surrounding communities and visitors is an integral part of what Marshfield has to offer. Taking part in that process is what excites me most as the plaza coordinator.  We are providing activities to entice people to come downtown Marshfield and I am elated to bring quality programming to the plaza.”

Ryner said that she is preparing a mix of activities that “speaks to all generations.” She has plans for music, art, and wellness events, as well as game nights.

“I believe in listening to the community and providing them with events they can attend with their family and friends,” she added. “My focus is on the quality of activities, and I will work hard in making the Wenzel Family Plaza a main destination in Marshfield.”

The Wenzel Family Plaza opened in Marshfield’s downtown during the 2018 Wood County Farm Technology Days, with over 1,000 in attendance for the inception, according to the Plaza Committee. The venue hosted 16 large events between July 11 and Oct. 4, bringing in an estimated 6,000 visitors to downtown last year.

You can meet Nicki at the Blodgett Haus, 222 S. Central Ave., Marshfield, on May 8, 3:30-5:30 p.m.
