WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Marshfield Science Bowl team was among 64 regional high school champions attending the Department of Energy National Science Bowl, held at the National 4-H Youth Conference Center outside of Washington, D.C., April 27-28.
The teams were divided into eight pools, with each team in each pool facing off. Three of the Marshfield High School team’s games came down to the very last question, but the Tiger team came up short in two. They ended the day with 4-3 record, but failed to advance to the 16-team double-elimination bracket.
The finals were played in the Lisner Auditorium of George Washington University on April 29. Wayzata, MN, went on to win the high school division.
In addition to the academic competition, students had the opportunity to attend presentations by well-known scientists on current topics in math and the sciences. They also had time for a night tour of the monuments as well as a day tour to explore the many museums on the National Mall.
