MARSHFIELD –Marshfield’s Innovative Machine Specialists (IMS) will expand their facilities.
The business started in 1996 and shortly after, built their first facility at 1907 Laemle Ave., Marshfield. In 2010, they added a new facility in the Norwood Industrial Park.
On the 4.35 acres they own on in the industrial park at 2201 S. Nikolai Avenue, they are now set to expand once again, with assistance from the city’s tax incremental financing district (TIF) No. 7.
“The city is executing a development agreement with Innovative Machine Specialists that will provide them some dollars – I believe it is $100,000 – in incentive payments for an expansion,” said Marshfield City Administrator Steve Barg. “It is going to bring some new tax base and jobs.”
The company will add a 20,000 square-foot expansion, which will include covered outside storage and an access to a rear loading dock.
The expansion will raise the assessed value from $1,408,100 to $2,340,000, adding an estimated assessed value of $931,000.
IMS is a machine shop specializing in food grade stainless and plastic applications. They also machine other types of materials, including: aluminum, brass, and steel.
“We’re happy that they want to keep growing here in Marshfield,” Barg said.
Construction will be completed by Dec. 1.
