Public meeting for Marshfield’s Central Avenue project is April 24

MARSHFIELD – It’ll be a green light in Marshfield next week for some long-awaited road repairs on the city’s heavily-traveled North Central Avenue. But first, Marshfield City Engineer Tom Turchi says there’s a meeting this week to help the general public navigate the summer-long project.
“The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (DOT) and their contractors planning to start on North Central Avenue on May 1st,” Turchi said. “And there’s a public informational meeting that’s scheduled with the DOT’s instruction inspection company, and the contractor, and DOT representatives.”
That meeting is scheduled to run 5:30-6:30 p.m. April 24 in the council chambers at Marshfield City Hall.
The project will include some much-needed repairs on Central Avenue between Arnold and Harrison streets, including the addition of some new turn lanes and traffic signals at the corner of Doege and Central.
North Central Avenue is also State Highway 97 and therefore subject to the jurisdiction of the Wisconsin DOT.
City officials expressed frustration last June when the project was suddenly postponed for yet another year due to a snag in the DOT’s bidding process.
