MARSHFIELD – Marshfield school officials have delayed a decision to expand its four-year-old kindergarten program.
The Marshfield Board of Education voted last night to table a decision on whether to add a 4K site at Madison Elementary School. Board members also heard comments from Jessica Merkel, whose daughter will be in 4K next fall. Merkel said having many options is a wonderful thing, but if those options don’t fit the needs of parents, then a much broader discussion on the topic is needed.
Merkel said:
Merkel’s hope was that the board would do a little more research on the subject, and analyze the situation on what would be best for the community. The school board will do just that. The board has scheduled a special meeting on the topic for April 8 at 5:30 p.m.
