Lynn Dairy takes Best of Class in national cheese competition

MARSHFIELD – Granton-based Lynn Dairy grabbed a first place win at the 2019 United States Championship Cheese Contest, held March 5-6 in the Atrium at Lambeau Field, Green Bay.
Cheesemaker Dave Lindgren and the Lynn Dairy staff took “Best of Class” in the Mild Cheddar – 0-3 months class, with a score of 98.55, edging out AMPI – Jim Falls with a score of 98.25.
This is the 20th biennial run for the United States Championship Cheese Contest. Cheesemakers from 35 states participated.
Lynn Dairy is a third-generation family owned and operated cheese manufacturer. Walter Schwantes purchased the dairy in 1949.
