Geraldine G. Steinwagner, 86, of Marshfield died Friday, March 1, 2019 at Atrium Post-Acute Care, Marshfield.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home, 1010 East Veterans Parkway, Marshfield. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:00 am Thursday until the time of the service at the funeral home.
Geraldine was born February 3, 1933 in Marshfield, daughter of the late Frank and Gertrude (Michels) Schumacher. She received her education in Marshfield and earned her GED later in life. On August 28, 1952 she was united in marriage to Arthur M. Steinwagner at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. He preceded her in death. Throughout Geraldine’s life she was employed as a surgical aide, teacher’s aide, cook, and retired as a home health care aide. Geraldine was also an active volunteer in community organizations such as Community Action, Head Start, and the Committee on Aging. She was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed polka dancing, bowling, and playing cards. She is survived by six children; Michael (DeAnn) Steinwagner, Marshfield, Charlene (Terry) Fischer, Hewitt, Cynthia (Greg) Kraemer, Marshfield, Jayne (Jim) Dotter, Marshfield, Sheila (Gene) Fosnaugh, Prescott, AZ and Lisa (Joe) Brueggen, Stratford, three grandchildren; Jason Steinwagner, Natalie (Mike) Wright and Faith Ann Steinwagner, two step grandchildren; Ashley (special friend, Jason Korth) Brueggen and Jessica (Christopher Dunn) Brueggen, three great grandchildren; Claire, Collin and Maggie Wright, two step great grandchildren; Connor and Kylie Hainzlsperger and a sister; Loretta Heiting.
She was preceded in death by her husband, two sisters, a brother, three half-brothers and four half-sisters, and other family members.
The family wishes to extend their thanks to the nurses and staff at Atrium Post-Acute Care where Geraldine called home for the past three years, and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful care.
