SCHOFIELD – The Colby girls basketball team fought a hard battle to claim a semi-final sectional victory against the Neillsville girls Feb. 28 at D.C. Everest.

Neillsville entered halftime with a narrow 19-18 lead, and the two teams stayed fairly even, until Neillsville pulled away to grab an eight-point lead.

Colby wasn’t finished, however, and battled back to tie the game at 34 to end the second half.

The Hornets added another 10 in overtime, while Neilsville was only able to earn another three, and Colby finished ahead 44-37.

Alyssa Underwood led Colby with 10, while Bella Opelt had 13 for Neillsville.

Colby will next face Crandon on March 2 at 7 p.m., at Wausau West High School.
