Local high school wrestlers move on to sectionals

MARSHFIELD – Two local teams and over three dozen local wrestlers will move on to sectionals following regional competition held Feb. 9.

Division 1

The Marshfield Tigers wrestling team took first place over Wisconsin Rapids, 237-204.5, to move on to team sectional semi-finals against River Falls at Wausau East High School on Feb. 12, starting at 7 p.m.

Individual wrestlers moving on to individual sectionals on Feb. 16 in Menomonie, by weight class, are:

Marshfield

113, Keagan Cliver, second; 120, Shane Westerhausen, second; 126, Gabe Pugh, first; 132, Ryan Dolezal, first; 138, Tanner Kanable, first; 145, Caden Pearce, second; 152, Noah Hertel, first; 182, Bentley Schwanebeck-Ostermann, first; 195, Sam Mitchell, first; and 285, Samual Haessly, first.

Division 2 

Regionals were held in Black River Falls. Individual moving to sectionals Feb. 16 in Neillsville are:

Abby/Colby

106, River Halopka, second; 145, Logan Ruesch, second; 152, Chance Clement, second; 170, Joseph Aguilera, first; and 220, Carter Grewe, second.

Neillsville/Greenwood/Loyal

160, Nathan Buchanan, first; 182, Tanner Zschernitz, first; and 195, Stephen Buchanan, first.

Spencer/Columbus:

113, Treyton Ackman, first; 120, Ashton Ackman, first; 126, Leonardo Rodriguez, second; 132, Jacob Dick, second; 160, Carson Hildebrandt, second; and 285, Logan Zschernitz, first.

Division 3

Regionals were held in Edgar, where Stratford took first. They will now wrestle Crandon in Auburndale, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m., followed by a match between Wauyewega-Fremont and Coleman. The two winning teams will wrestle at 8 p.m. to determine the champions.

Individual sectional competition will be in Shawano on Feb. 16, with the following high school wrestlers competing:

Stratford

106, Logan Gaulke, second; 113, Gavin Drexler, first; 120, Manny Drexler, first; 132, Max Schwabe, first; 138, Jacob Heiden, first; 145, Mav Liccardi first; 152, Derek Marten, first; 160, Devin Dennee, first; 170, Trevor Dennee, first; 195, Trevor Steiner, second; and 285, Dylan Scheonherr, first.

Auburndale

106, Noah Altman, first; and 132, Isaiah Hasenohrl, second.

Pittsville

126, Camron Dammann, second; 138, Beau Merritt, second; and 170, Hunter Grimm, second.
