Neal Lowell Accola, 94, Pittsville, died on Thursday, January 24, 2019, at Marshfield Medical Center.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, February 16, 2019, at Pittsville Community Hall, 5291 Third Ave., Pittsville. Friends may also visit with family from 10 AM until service time and after the service.
Neal was born on November 19, 1924, at home. His parents, Oswald and Meta (Accola) Accola, homesteaded the dairy farm on Accola Road, Pittsville, where Neal, his brother, Donald, and sister, Ruby, grew up.
Neal married Elva “Bunny” Birkholz, an elementary teacher, in 1955. Wilton was born in 1957 and Lee in 1959. For many years Neal operated the dairy farm on the Accola “home place.”
Despite Neal’s vision problems in recent years, he loved to read his Bible. Despite his hearing problems, he loved to listen to the gospel. At Thanksgiving, when asked for his favorite hymn, he said he liked the one about being “steady and true.” (Hymn 339)
Preceding Neal in death were his son Wilton Accola (1994) and brother, Don Accola (2007).
Surviving are his wife, Elva “Bunny” Accola; son Lee Accola; Lee’s children, Heidi Kumm, Gary (Amber) Accola and Wayne Accola; Wilton’s son, David (Monica) Accola; and sister, Ruby Harp.
