AUBURNDALE – Stratford wrestling topped the competition to earn the Marawood Conference Championship title for sixth straight year.

Stratford Wrestling dominated the Marawood Conference Championships Jan. 26 in Auburndale, with nine individual champions and the top team spot.  Host team, Auburndale, had two individual champions.

Championship round results: 106 pounds – Auburndale’s Noah Altmann pinned Logan Gaulke of Stratford in  2:53; 113 – Gavin Drexler of Stratford pinned Nick Van Rixel of Marathon in 0:47, keeping his undefeated season in tact; 120 – Championship: Manny Drexler (Stratford) defeated Dane Klinger (Marathon), Drexler pinned Nick Van Rixel of Marathon in 0:47.  Drexler, a freshman remains undefeated for the season. 126 – Javyn Freeman from Phillips pinned Carter Brunke of Athens in a time of 5:09;  132 pounds – Max Schwabe of Stratford defeated Auburndale’s Isaiah Hasenohrl, 5-1; 138 – Dylan Baird, Auburndale, defeated Jacob Heiden of Stratford, 6-1; 145 – Mav Licciardi from Stratford, pinned Jonathan Albrecht of Athens in 1:18; 152 – Stratford’s Derek Marten won with major decision over Phillips’ Brandon Bruneau , 11-0; 160 – Stratford’s Devin Dennee  defeated Ty Guden of Edgar, 4-0; 170 – Hunter Ford of Stratford won with a major decision over R.J. Knetter of Edgar, 14-0; 182 – Brock Handrick of Edgar was pinned by Stratford’s Trevor Dennee in 3:01; 195 – Edgar’s William Raatz beats Stratford’s Trevor Steiner with a major decision, 13-1; 220 – Ethan Heil of Edgar won with a major decision over Connor Westfall of Athens, 14-4; 285 – Stratford’s Dylan Schoenherr pinned Mitchell Gore of Athens in 0:37.

Regional competition for Auburndale and Stratford take place in Edgar on Feb. 9.
