MARSHFIELD – The Columbus boys defeated football co-op partners, Spencer, during a Jan. 24 match up at Columbus High School.
Spencer fell behind, 51-17, by half time during the game, which also served as a fundraiser for the Joe Altmann Memorial Scholarship Fund. Altmann died in 2011, while serving in Afghanistan. He has a three-sport athlete and a member of the first Spencer-Columbus co-op football team. The scholarship is awarded to graduating seniors and students wanting to attend Columbus Catholic Schools.
Jarred Mandel was high scorer for Columbus, with 18. Bryce Fuerlinger added 15, Noah Taylor added 12, and Ethan Meece had 11. Austin Bacon was high for Spencer with 19.
The win brings Columbus to 10-0 in conference, while Spencer is 5-6.
