Going to the quiet places

Who are you when you escape from the tick-tock of daily life? The clamor and chaos of holiday
goodness is over. Now each of us in our own way can take a break to a quiet place to soothe our minds.

Everyone has their own way to do this. It might be a ride in the country with the music off to take
in the panorama of our spacious skies. Maybe it’s a visit to cheer up a friend who is sick and convalescing. Possibly it’s sharing memories with a friend over a cup of coffee or a glass of wine.

The important thing is to put the demands of the world on hold. Turn off the cell phone, close the laptop, shut down Alexa, and say hello to yourself.

Getting to your quiet place will make you feel better, because you are listening to the inner core of yourself. You can find out who you really are deep down inside, what is true of you at all times and in all situations.

Leaving behind distractions, exploring the beauty and wonders of the world, communion with those we love and with timeless values – this is God’s work. I hope you are able to find your quiet place and increase your peace of mind.
